Impact Assessment of Public Area Improvement of Dhal ni Pol, Ahmedabad
The Dhal ni Pol revitalization project presents a unique case study in community-led heritage preservation, where City Collab leveraged CSR funding, partnerships, and crucial support from the local government to improve and upgrade the infrastructure.
The objectives of the project were two fold: 1) educating women from the pol on its architectural and cultural heritage, and mobilizing them to take action to improve the living environment, and 2) upgrading infrastructure and public space improvement. Throughout the study, we assessed how the project has positively impacted the quality of life of residents, particularly women and other marginalized groups.
We have developed a forward-looking impact narrative that outlines key lessons learned and aims to inform similar urban intervention projects rooted in communities.
